Philip Wilson

Philip is a freelance director who spent four very successful years as the Artistic Director of Salisbury Playhouse (2007-2011).

So far this year, he has directed the new play Beacons at Park Theatre and As You Like It for Storyhouse in Chester. He is preparing to direct Michael Wynne’s latest play, The Star, at Liverpool Playhouse.

In 2015, his immersive staging of his own adaptation of six of Philip Pullman’s Grimm Tales ran for 21 weeks at the Bargehouse on the South Bank. He also revived his acclaimed production of William Gaminara’s comedy The Three Lions on tour and at the St. James’ Theatre in London; and completed a multi-camera training course, having been awarded the David Fraser/Andrea Wonfor directing-for-television Bursary.

Philip’s book, Dramatic Adventures in Rhetoric, which he has written with Giles Taylor, has been published by Oberon Books and is now on sale.
